My new phone, a Samsung A950, arrived on Friday and she’s pretty darn sweet. Still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles. The included ringtones are crap to the n’th degree but I’ve been able to load some midi’s on it as ringers and they’re working pretty good. Ringtones are to cellphones what paint colors are to cars, no effect whatsoever on performance but oh so important to the user. Haven’t played with the camera too much so I can’t really say how well it works. I’ve played with the voice recognition a little bit though and it’s slick. You don’t even have to train it, like with some phones, to understand what you’re saying. It uses “natural language” technology to figure out what you’re saying all by itself. It works surprisingly well. Anyway, I’m pretty happy with my purchase after just a couple days with the phone. I may post some pictures from it after getting comfortable with the camera. One other thing I forgot to mention, design-wise it’s head and shoulders above the competition. The current choices from Verizon with similiar features, the LG 8100 and Motorola 815, don’t even come close. It’s a good size, has an internal antenna, and the red housing is a nice touch.
