I believe in karma. It’s simple. Cause and effect, the circle of life, whatever you want to call it. It’s essentially a force that seeks balance in the universe. I see it in nature and I see it in life. It also applies to the subway.
Some days the train pulls in to the station just as I arrive on the platform as if it were some giant silver limousine just for me. Ideally, it will be uncrowded and all my connections go smoothly. It might even surprise me with how fast you can get around this city sometimes. I’ve been having unusually good subway karma for a couple days.
That came to an end this morning. Today it seemed like the subways were trying to impede my progress not help it. All the trains were late and crowded. Not the best way to start the day but my belief in karma comforts me with thoughts of good subway karma to come.

Big silver limousines just for you…that would be the optimal way to go.
That, and fresh air and none of these back flip hip hop dancers working the late afternoon trains for cash.
