I had an appointment with my dentist and hygienist yesterday for my semi-annual cleaning and checkup. My dentist is located in Rockefeller Center and I rarely find myself in that part of the city so it’s always kind of a treat to go. I get to see the tourists standing in sub-freezing temperatures to get a glimpse of Katie and Matt. Kansas must really be boring if you’re willing to put up with that kind of weather to see two talking heads. Plus, at this time of year, I also get to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. The presence of nature is rare in NYC except in the parks and to see a 74 ft. tall pine tree decorated for Christmas in the middle of Rockefeller Center is just weird. But in a good way, sort of.

Ps. Things I discovered at the dentist.

  1. I have 6 fillings
  2. Your gums recede as you age hence the phrase, “Long in the tooth”
  3. While I don’t like putting my own hands in my mouth, I don’t seem to mind the hygienist doing it. Especially strange considering she’s scraping my teeth with pointy metal tools.
  4. Taking ibuprofen before a cleaning makes the experience less painful
  5. Teeth x-rays look cool
