Assateague Island National Seashore
Posted by thenextstopwillbe under Whatnot
The main reason for visiting Chincoteague is its proximity to Assateague Island. A barrier island protecting Chincoteague, it has more than thirty miles of completely undeveloped Atlantic seashore.
*E* and I were there in mid-May and it was almost deserted. We’d walk about 10-15 minutes up the beach and find that we were the only ones around. Not a bad place to be. The weather was more than pleasant enough for walking or lounging although I’m sure it was still too cool to go in the water.
