Shaving is a pain in the butt any time of the year. It takes both time and resources exponentially more costly than its usefulness. Blades, shaving cream, moisturizers, longer showers, it’s ridiculous. And for what? Some fabricated ideal that having no hair is better than with hair? Please.

I don’t excuse myself from participation in this insanity. I’m as self conscious as anyone about my appearance and as such, I shave. Heck, I actually enjoy it every once in while especially that first shave with a new blade. And I’ll even admit to taking pleasure in how my cheeks feel with a fresh shave. Soft and smooth, what’s not to like?

Summer adds an unbearable extra cost to that vanity though and my poor cheeks pay the price. 85° and 75% humidity is a recipe for sweat which is an annoyance to most of my body. My cheeks on the other hand have just had a razor sharp stainless steel blade dragged across them and frankly they’re kinda tender. Sweat feels like liquid hot magma as far as they’re concerned. They burn. And I hate it. Autumn can’t come soon enough.
