Martha Stewart is a Dork

UPDATE: Anita has posted her pics and experience on her blog, Pinknest.
Thanks to Anita, I had the opportunity of being in the audience for The Martha Stewart Show today. And I’m here to tell you that a woman more uncomfortable with people she could not be. Martha stumbled through her interview with actress Amy Irving and then I kept expecting to hear her say “Oh, just let me do it!” when they did crafts together.
It got even worse with Martha’s second guest, wedding planner to the stars, Preston Bailey. He recently published a book highlighting his work and was on the show to promote it. When asked by Martha where he got his inspiration, he replied “Drugs!” and started laughing as did most of the audience. Martha did not laugh. Preston then replied that a lot of his inspiration came from nature and the segment moved on.
Fun facts about the show:
1. The early show is live and they tape future shows in the afternoon.
2. Martha has large photos of her cats and dogs in the pre-show gathering room.
3. The audience is instructed in two clapping levels, moderate and crazy excited.
4. They have the audience start clapping at t-minus five seconds when returning from a commercial break.
5. The audience instructions also include Ooooohs and Mmmmmms.
6. The studio is freezing!
7. Martha takes audience questions after the show ends.
To Martha’s credit, it was a very busy episode so maybe that threw her off her game. Then again, you either connect with people or you don’t and she don’t.

I am soooooo jelly Cousin!! Did she have a ‘special’ light like Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, et al.??? Did she look good (not too scary plastic surgery-y) from where you were sitting? Does this dress make me look fat?

I bet the studio was freezing so no one would look drowsy or, heaven forefend, fall asleep.
