More Funky Than Fresh, Streetlights

Check out the crazy ghetto streetlights that popped up in my neighborhood recently. I’ve seen these in situations where a car accident has taken out a traffic signal and the city sets up something like this until repairs can be completed but this is the first time I’ve seen it done with a streetlight.
Even odder is that there were no streetlights on this corner to begin with. It appears that the city is installing new ones but why the temp ones if they weren’t any there in the first place? The neighborhood has gotten by without lights here for years so what’s a couple more weeks? It’s inscrutable.

It really improves the ambiance, no?
