Dot the Dot

Life has a way of connecting the dots for you when you least expect it. Maybe you’ve noticed this as well, allow me to explain.
You may have guessed from my post on Sunday that I watched “The Godfather”. It wasn’t something I was planning to watch, just flipping around the television and there it was. It had been some time since I’d last seen it so I made some popcorn and settled down.
<SPOILER ALERT>
One of the major scenes in the movie is the one in which Sonny Corleone, played by James Caan, is ambushed by multiple gunman at a toll booth and ruthlessly killed. It’s a very graphic scene that sets up the rest of the plot. Consider this “Dot One.”
That was Sunday, on Monday night I get home from work and find myself back in front of the TV, sorta. I was actually working on this blog and the TV was on in the background. Anyway, The Simpsons comes on. It was an episode which I hadn’t seen. Who should be on it but James Caan playing himself. James Caan twice in two days? Call this “Dot Two.”
It’s odd but it gets odder. In the episode, James Caan steals Cletus’s wife Brandine from him. Cletus and Brandine are the town hicks. Cletus takes revenge in a familiar method, he and his hick friends gun down James Caan in the exact same fashion as “The Godfather.” “Dot Three.”
<END SPOILERS>
So there you have it. Two separate shows that I had not intended to watch not only both have James Caan but also the same scene, one in live action and the other animated.
I find the situation peculiar because similar circumstances occur with some regularity. I notice that it seems to happen most often with unusual words. I’ll read/hear a word that I haven’t heard in months or years then it’ll come up a couple more times in short succession. It’s like the theory that Hollywood types always die in threes. Dot dot da dot!(sung to Beethoven’s Fifth)

Cowinkadink? I wonder?
Take said incident for example.
I get a phone call from our beloved bloggers mom on Monday. She is somewhat puzzled because she has received a phone call at her house asking specifically for me. Not just my first name, but first and last maiden name. Now I have been using my married name for five years now, and am quite sure I have not given my maiden name to anyone much less my Aunt’s phone number to reach me. To quote a popular song “How Bizarre, How Bizarre.”
Now we zoom forward to yesterday, Wednesday.
My house phone rings, I answer, the person on the other side asks to speak to….
you guessed it our beloved bloggers mom’s name!!!!!! What the………?
All together now: How Bizarre How Bizarre!!
