Of Coffeepots and Life

It’s amazing what you see when you take a moment to stop taking something for granted. What caught my attention this morning? How do you make a glass coffee pot that can go directly from the heat of the coffeemaker to an ice cold rinse in the sink without shattering? That impresses the h*ll out of me almost every time I do it.
Speaking of taking something for granted, do you ever pause and think about all the work that goes into being a competent adult human? I do, and let me tell you something. It’s staggering. Frankly I have no idea how I manage to pull it off. The sheer volume is enough to make me look forward to my twilight years when my well being will be someone else’s concern. With any luck, it’ll be someone who loves me and I can let them worry about making sure there’s coffee, half and half, filters, a clean mug, and an unshattered coffeepot in the house. Meanwhile I’ll work on not slobbering on myself.

Most days beating back gravity takes everything I’ve got. then I have to fret over what to cook for dinner and how to make it taste good?! I’m just thankful to not have to chase and throw things at food in order to not go hungry.

Yeah, ‘cos then the whole defeating gravity thing would be even more challenging.
