Things may have gotten off to a slow start this weekend but as it comes to a close I’ve realized that I kicked much @ss in the “gettin’ things done” dept.

Friday was a rest and regroup day that didn’t produce much in the way of results. It did, however, give me the strength I needed to get lots done on the subsequent days. *E* and I hit the city on Saturday to run some errands. Going into the city on a weekend is usually a very draining experience physically. This trip proved no different.

We had three stops, a fabric store, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and Whole Foods. With temps in the 80′s, lots of walking, and the usual Saturday crowds at all three stores, we were pretty pooped by the time we got back home. However, I’m very proud to say we bought our first appliance as a couple, a new toaster.

Cut to Sunday morning, a quick trip to the local bagel shop and we had all the ammunition we needed to give the new toaster a whirl. Other than a plastic’y smell from its first use, it worked great and we look forward to toasting many bread and bread-like products in it.

Get an everything bagel with cream cheese and a couple of cups of coffee in me and there’s no telling what might happen. Except I’m about to tell you what happened so forget that last part. *E* had arranged our bookcases in the living room earlier in the week so I took it upon myself to fill’em on Sunday. About 15 boxes later, the bookshelves were loaded. Cha-ching!! Give that man a hot dog!

That brings us to today. Running out of underwear can only mean one thing. Don’t worry I’m not about to say I went “commando”. It was time to do laundry. Unfortunately, it was about a months worth. Normally I don’t wait that long but the move kinda screwed up my schedule. The laundromat, or washeteria if you will, was packed due to the holiday but I managed to get finished in a couple hours.

I would have been happy if that was all I accomplished today as I was pretty tired after I got finished with laundry but a cool shower and coffee brought me back to life. Time for some DIY, I installed a security plate for the deadbolt, adjusted the tension on the roll up shades, leveled the fridge, cleaned up the expanding foam insulation in the closet, and fixed the door handle on the same closet. Wheww!

So there you have it. We’re three weeks post-move and things are starting to come together. The living room looks great and is all but finished, just a few details and wall hangings to sort out. The bedroom is also nearing completion. The dining room actually has enough space to set up a table, the study is coming along as well. Best of all, the stack of boxes in our entry hall is shrinking almost daily. Time for some well earned sleep. Soon there will be more coffee. :P
