Buyer’s Remorse
Posted by thenextstopwillbe under Whatnot
I just spent $60 on three books and I’m none too pleased with myself. The problem? I paid full retail for them at the Barnes and Noble on Fifth Ave. What is wrong with me? Full retail? For books? Hello! I suppose I could return them but I’m not really the returning type so instead I’ll vent my frustration on the internets. To beat myself up further, I looked up all the books on Amazon and I could have saved myself almost $25 plus gotten free shipping and no sales tax. Ahhhh!
So what are the three titles that are the cause of all this grief? The new Steve Martin book, A Comic’s Life, about his experience as a stand-up comedian and why he walked away from it. No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy to prepare for seeing the movie of the same name by the Coen Brothers. I’ve also read two of his other books and quite enjoyed them, they’re tough but beautiful. And lastly, I bought Dispatches from the Tenth Circle, The Best of the Onion. I purchased it because I happened to read a recent issue which was really funny and it reminded me of how funny it used to be so I bought the book.
While we’re on the subject of books, *E* got me Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin for my birthday and I’m absolutely loving it. Doesn’t help with my buyer’s remorse but it did entertain me on the subway coming home with my “paid too much” purchases. Now I’ve got some reading to do so I bid the internets a fond farewell.
