Computer Glossary

You’re looking at the first purchase I ever made on Amazon.com way back in November of 1998. It could very well be the first item I ever bought on the internet. Oddly appropriate, no? It’s kinda freaky that I’ve been shopping online for almost ten years. Wonder how much I’ve spent in all that time? Cancel that last request, I’d rather not know.

Anyway, to the book you see before you. It alone was probably my single best resource for learning about computers and that includes most of the computer classes I took in college. How many bits in a byte¹? No problem. What does RAM stand for²? Again, just look it up. The difference between PCI and ISA expansion cards³? It’s all in there and my geek brain ate it up with mustard and relish.

¹ 8
² Random Access Memory
³ I forget, try Google

Ps. I love the cover quote “The Rolls Royce of computer dictionaries.” Hilarious!
