I am by no means a cook but I recognize an excellent kitchen tool when I use one. I received a Microplane for Christmas this year and it has revolutionized parmesan cheese for me! No longer will I be buying that sawdust a certain food conglomerate passes off as grated cheese. You know, it comes in a bright green shaker. It’s only the real deal for me from now on and the Microplane makes grating it a snap.

Seriously, while I may not be proficient in the kitchen, I’ve handled many a tool in my day and few have made as strong an impression as the Microplane. It’s designed to do one thing and it does it exceedingly well. Parmesan grated with a Microplane falls off the block in lacy little curls of stinky goodness with barely any effort at all. In no time, you’ll have a fluffy little mound of cheese to top anything you’d like.

One word of warning though, it works so well that you’ll start looking for reasons to use it. Those reasons usually involve topping pasta or pizza which could eventually be detrimental to your waistline. I’m just saying, forewarned is forearmed. The Microplane is like the “crack” of kitchen tools. Once you get hooked, no block of parmesan is safe.
