Agora: Sculpture by Magdalena Abakanowicz
Posted by thenextstopwillbe under Whatnot
Another set of photos from my trip to Chicago. This sculpture, titled “Agora”, in Chicago’s Grant Park is by Magdalena Abakanowicz and consists of 106 iron cast headless figures.
It’s a bit spooky being amongst the forms. I can’t imagine what it must be like after dark.

I do love the look of those… and I like how literal it is in relation to the meaning of Agora.
And a pretty day in Chicago it seems!

I clicked your reference to the artist; the information said her humanoids represent confusion and anonymity. I think it’s an impressive depiction of the smallness of the individual in our crowded society. My world has expanded again; I was not familiar with her.
